I turned to counseling when I couldn’t stand myself anymore. This happened over the course of 2 years, years in which I lost focus on my life.
I was looking for someone capable of getting me back on the road. Paula was not a random choice. I looked for someone from the environment (area, city) in which I felt like home, where I felt balanced and I got to meet wonderful people with strong life principles.
At my first meeting with her, I was skeptical: “How could a stranger help me? How can I summarize all the events that brought me to this state so that she could understand the situation and deal with it?” But this was not necessary to the extent I imagined. Paula guided me to look at things differently and helped me ask myself useful questions to make a decision. Basically, I felt as if I was talking to myself throughout the counseling process, “I” (in the role of Paula) asked the questions and “me” found the answers. It helped that I had someone to talk to, she always listened to me carefully.
We chose the schedule together, to be comfortable for both. We met once a week for about 2 months, I had “homework” that helped me to get to know myself. I learned how to push myself out of difficult situations, all thanks to Paula. At the same time, I focused on the possibility of discovering a suitable job for me. Following the counseling I came to have a clear definition of the profession I wanted to practice, the one that will satisfy me the most.
My life was, until 2 months ago, a disoriented and hectic one. I wanted to have many activities and to be busy with interesting tasks in my areas of interest. With Paula’s help, I managed to tidy up and occupy my time exactly as I imagined. I have clearly put on my list the areas in which I want to operate, to what extent and with what end goals. This is how I got busy, in a useful way for me, I stood out through aviation photography and a magazine contacted me for collaboration, I resumed my favorite sport, volleyball, and I feel very good. In my free evenings I participate in events organized by Astroclub. Things were ordered and hence my life was ordered. When things settled on one side, I came to bring peace on the others, so balance was installed. Now I feel the way I wanted to feel at the beginning of the counseling process. We also worked on self-knowledge, a very important part throughout this process. I can say that this was my best investment so far. If you get to know your own resources, to work with them, you succeed in what you set out to achieve.
